Black Tulip is a New Zealand-bred compact magnolia growing to 11.5 feet. It bears superb goblet-shaped 6-inch blooms in black-purple and flowers earlier than most, within the first few seasons.
Does best in sun. Little pruning is called for, a well-chosen addition to a small garden.
