Empress of India bears long-spurred scarlet blooms about 2 1/2 inches wide over deep blue-green leaves. Plants stay about 1 ft. high and bloom until frost.
Sow the large seeds directly in the ground. It grows well with cabbage, cucumbers and herbs and helps repel whitefly and cabbage caterpillars.
