Sugar Magnolia produces deep-purple snap pea pods with bright-green interiors, carried on vigorous vines that reach 6 to 7 feet. Violet and dark-purple bicolored flowers add color while distinctive tendrils grip a trellis.
Harvest the pods just before they fill fully for the best flavor. Serve them fresh in salads, steamed or sautéed.
