Butterfly milkweed is a vigorous, heirloom perennial and preferred nectar plant for monarchs and other pollinators.
Beginning in summer it bears a profusion of fiery, red-orange flowers followed by decorative green seed pods. Native to much of the United States, it is drought tolerant once established and performs in poor soils. Sap is toxic; avoid eye and skin contact and do not ingest.
