Description
Common milkweed is an heirloom shrub-like perennial native through much of the eastern and central United States. Pink to purplish or white summer flowers feed monarch butterflies, leaves host caterpillars, and decorative seedpods suit dried arrangements. Plants spread by underground rhizomes in full sun and fall-sown plantings establish well.
Sap is toxic; avoid eye and skin contact and do not ingest. This variety cannot ship to Hawaii.
