Marshmallow is a Nicotiana mutabilis variety with masses of sweetly scented tubular flowers that fade from rosy red to pink to white. Wiry upright stalks reach 48 inches.
Sow on the surface, seeds need light to germinate. Sprout comes in 7-10 days at 70-75ºF soil. Start indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost, then plant outside after frost 10-12 inches apart. Flowers follow in 75-90 days.
