Eucomis pole-evansii is the giant pineapple lily from South Africa. It makes a conical head of fragrant florets topped with a tuft of green leaves.
Grow it in full sun or partial shade in regular, well-drained garden soil, in the border or as a centerpiece in a container. Plant 3 to 5 per square foot.
