Ipheion uniflorum ‘Alberto Castillo’ produces six-petaled, star-shaped flowers from early through late spring. Its grasslike foliage smells of garlic when crushed, while the flowers bring a sweet fragrance to the planting.
This pest-resistant bulb works well along borders and in lawns, where it can naturalize over time. It has naturalized at Colonial Williamsburg and in other heirloom gardens throughout the Southeast.
