Description
Swamp Milkweed is a hardy perennial with upright 48–60-inch stems and two-tone pink to purple flower clusters. The 2-inch blooms carry a light vanilla scent and attract butterflies and other beneficial insects, while the stems can be used as cut flowers.
Sow 1/8–1/4 inch deep in full sun and average, moist to well-drained soil. Cold-treat the seed for 2–3 weeks before indoor sowing, or direct sow in early spring or early fall. Plants usually bloom in the second year, and deadheading can encourage another bloom.
