Description
Dracunculus Vulgaris produces a reddish-black spike wrapped in a matching leaflike sheath, giving the flower the appearance of a vase. A leopard-spotted stem carries large, fingered leaves that spread in a fan. Early-summer flowers are followed by scarlet berries. The bloom can have an unpleasant fragrance for several days, so it is best planted away from doorways.
