Cylindra forms long, cylindrical roots instead of round ones, giving 3 to 4 times more uniform slices. Sweet dark red roots reach 8 in. long and 1 3/4 in. across.
Harvest baby beets for eating to help remaining roots size up. Mix seed with fast-sprouting radish seed to mark rows. Grows best in full sun.
