Description
American Purple Top is an heirloom rutabaga with mild, fine-grained interior for fall and storage. Sow 1/2 inch deep outdoors in mid-spring, a few seeds every 6 inches, thin to the strongest.
Seed sprouts in 5-7 days in 65-75F soil. Harvest after a few touches of frost before roots get big and woody, when flavor turns sweetest.
