Connecticut Yankees Mix Delphinium is a shorter Delphinium cultorum that needs no staking and blooms from seed in the first year when started early.
Sow on the surface and cover lightly; cold treatment for 2-3 weeks aids germination. Sprouts in 10-21 days at 65-70ºF soil. Start indoors 8-12 weeks before last frost, transplant 12-18 in. apart after frost, or direct sow in spring or fall. Perennial in zones 3-9, 2-3 ft. tall, blooms late first season then midsummer.
