Description
Luffa gourd produces gourds that become useful natural sponges and scrubbers when fully mature and dried. Harvest when the skin hardens and turns brown, and the gourd feels lighter as moisture leaves it.
Start indoors 3–4 weeks before the last frost, or sow outdoors after the soil reaches 70°F. Give the vigorous plants fertile soil, steady water and room to climb.
