Description
Ice Lettuce Mesembryanthemum cristallinum makes succulent fleshy leaves coated in dew-like bubbles, known in French as Ficoïde Glacial. Sow on the surface, keep soil at 70-75ºF, and look for sprouts in 4-10 days.
Transplant after last frost 12-18" apart and cut young leaves as needed for raw salads, cooked greens or pickles. The plants handle hot, dry and poor or salty soils and later form airy daisy-like flowers.
