Description
Marshmallow grows about 4 feet tall and bears 1–2 inch pink mallow-like flowers. It prefers rich, moist, well-drained soil and grows in full sun or light shade; mature roots were the original ingredient used to make marshmallows.
Sow seeds on the soil surface and press them lightly into place. Start indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost at 60–70°F, then transplant 10–12 inches apart. The plant suits culinary, medicinal and ornamental gardens.
