Showpiece Mixture grows 36–48 inches tall and produces 3–4 inch double flowers in gold, crimson, purple, apricot and pink-red shades. The upright plants have sturdy stems and can rival dahlias grown from rhizomes; the variety has won awards in the U.S., U.K. and Australia.
Sow the seed on the soil surface and cover it lightly. Start indoors 6–10 weeks before the last frost at 65–70°F, then transplant after frost with 24–36 inches between plants. Flowers appear about 80–90 days from seed.
