Description
Colchicum autumnale ‘Alboplenum’ flowers in mid to late fall on naked stems, so the blooms appear before any foliage. Its leaves emerge in spring and resemble hosta leaves. The bulbs can flower without being planted in soil, although rich, well-drained soil gives them a lasting garden home.
Colchicum bulbs are long-term perennials that improve with each year. The plant is poisonous and should not be eaten by people or pets.
