Chesnok Red, also called Shvelisi, is an heirloom hardneck garlic from near Shvelisi in the former Republic of Georgia. Each bulb has bright purple streaks and blotches, with 9–10 easy-to-peel cloves wrapped in purple-striped skins. The bulbs are sourced from local farms and hand-harvested. Plant the cloves in fall for a flavorful harvest, then store the cured bulbs for 4–6 months.
