Description
Mouse melon, also called cucamelon, sandita or Mexican sour gherkin, forms grape-size fruits that look like tiny watermelons. Flavor is cucumber-like, turning more sour as fruits mature.
Long vines reach about 10 feet and bear from summer to fall. Sow in full sun and grow in garden beds, containers or hanging baskets; pickle small fruits for a visual twist.
