Description
Early White Vienna, Brassica oleracea var. gongylodes, is an heirloom from before 1860 with pale bulbs and few leaves. The flesh stays tender and nut-like when harvested small.
Sow 1/4 inch deep outdoors once soil reaches 60°F, then thin seedlings to stand apart. Sprouts emerge in 7-10 days. Plants prefer fertile soil with compost, steady moisture and the cool weather of spring and late summer.
