Description
Ivory Towers is a white-flowering Joe Pye Weed, also known as Queen of the Meadow, introduced in 2010. Its fluffy, cloud-like blooms appear on upright plants 4–6 feet tall and attract butterflies. In an early sowing it can flower the first season; established plants bloom in mid to late summer each year.
Sow the seeds on the soil surface and lightly cover. Cold treatment for 3–4 weeks helps its irregular 30–90-day germination. Start indoors 8–10 weeks before the last frost, or sow outdoors in fall or winter for spring germination. Grow it in full sun to part sun, with average to rich soil; it tolerates clay and moist areas.
