Description
Pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium) is a creeping perennial herb used for ornamental planting and traditional herbal applications. Its strong mint odor and lilac flowers also make it useful around pollinator-friendly gardens. The plant prefers rich, moist, well-drained soil in sun to light shade and is perennial in zones 6–9.
Sow the seeds on the soil surface and press them in lightly. Start indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost at 70–75°F, or sow outdoors after frost; transplant seedlings 12–15 inches apart.
