Description
Serrano is an heirloom chili pepper from the mountainous regions of Mexico. Plants produce small peppers about 1/2 by 2 inches, often bearing 60–100 fruits per plant. The peppers are very hot when green and become hotter as they turn red.
Start seeds indoors eight to ten weeks before the last frost in soil kept at 75–85°F. Transplant after frost, spacing plants 18–24 inches apart, and harvest with a sharp instrument once the fruits reach usable size.
