Description
Red Kuri, also called Orange Hokkaido, produces teardrop-shaped winter squash with smooth texture, deep orange color and a nutty flavor. The Japanese word kuri means chestnut, reflecting the taste of the cooked flesh.
Compact vines reach 4–6 feet and produce well in cool or short-season climates. The 3–4 pound fruits work well in traditional squash and pumpkin dishes or can be sliced, steamed or baked.
