Shishito chile peppers grow 2 to 4 inches long and have a slender shape with a mild heat level of 50–200 Scoville heat units. Their citrusy, slightly smoky flavour comes through especially well when the peppers are grilled or sautéed.
The plants are highly productive and suit garden beds or containers in a full-sun position. An occasional pepper may be hotter than the rest.
