Description
Giant Gray Stripe Sunflower is a traditional single-stem Russian sunflower that commonly grows at least 5 feet tall and can reach 10–12 feet. Its blooms are typically more than a foot wide and fill with seeds that birds and people can enjoy.
Sow 1/2–1 inch deep in loose, rich, well-drained soil after the last frost, or start indoors 4–6 weeks early. Plants flower in about 65–75 days and need full sun; mix compost into the soil, but avoid excess nitrogen, which can encourage leaves instead of blooms.
