Description
Green Express is an organic heirloom cabbage with quick-growing, uniform heads weighing 2–3 pounds. It is suited to an early harvest and can also be sown in early summer for a fall crop; the compact heads pair well with Red Express for colorful slaw.
Sow 1/4 inch deep and transplant seedlings one or two weeks before the last frost, or direct sow once the soil reaches 60°F. Grow it in fertile soil rich in organic matter with even moisture, and harvest as soon as the heads feel solid to help prevent splitting.
