Description
Jade Cross Brussels sprouts (Brassica oleracea var. gemmifera) is an F1 hybrid and 1959 All-America Selections winner, rated among the top vegetable introductions. Plants stand about 2-1/2 feet tall with good-sized sprouts borne all the way up the stalk.
Sow 1/4 inch deep. Sprouts emerge in 3-10 days at 65-85ºF soil. Space 18-24 inches apart in fertile soil rich in organic matter. One packet plants a 20-25 foot single row. Pick from the bottom up when sprouts are firm and 1 inch across; flavor sweetens after a few frosts.
