Description
Lovage is an old-fashioned perennial herb whose leaves resemble celery and carry a stronger celery flavor. Young leaves can be added to salads, while mature leaves season soups; dried leaves also add depth to strongly flavored meats such as salmon or lamb.
Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost or sow in spring or fall. Plant in full sun with average to fertile, damp soil, leaving room for its tall upright growth.
