Description
Toothache Plant produces bronze-green foliage and olive-shaped flowers marked with burgundy eyes. Its unusual form suits bedding and containers, while the leaves and flowers are traditionally used to create a temporary numbing sensation in the mouth.
Sow the seeds on the surface and cover them lightly. Start indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost, provide warm soil for germination, and transplant seedlings 10–12 inches apart after frost. The plants grow in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun to light shade.
