San Marzano is a large paste tomato that generations of Italian growers have prized for sauce and canning. Its history is closely linked with many paste tomatoes bred in the United States since the 1920s.
The vigorous vines grow to 6 feet or more and produce tomatoes suited to cooking down into rich sauces or preserving.
