Description
1500 Year Old Cave is a southwestern heirloom Phaseolus vulgaris, said to come from a sealed clay pot in a cave. Young flattened pods cook snappy, while shelled dry beans are white with maroon splashes. A 50-seed packet plants a 12-foot row.
Sow 1 inch deep outside after the last frost in soil above 60ºF, 3-4 inches apart for trellis growth. Sprout takes 4-10 days at 70-85ºF. Pick pods every 2-3 days before seeds bulge.
