Description
Cayenne-Long is an heirloom hot pepper dating to before 1827. Its attractive plants produce wrinkled peppers about 6 inches long and narrow, with a fiery flavor that suits drying. Start seeds indoors 8–10 weeks before the last frost at 75–85°F soil temperature, then transplant after frost with 18–24 inches between plants. Harvest with a sharp instrument when fruits reach usable size, or leave them on the plant to mature and sweeten.
