Description
Redwing is a long-day onion variety for northern growing areas, where bulbs form with 14 or more hours of daylight. The dormant plants arrive dry and recover after planting in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Give them about 1 inch of water each week.
Harvest when the necks soften and fall over. Dry the bulbs in the field for a few days, then finish drying indoors for 2–3 weeks before trimming and storing them in mesh bags.
