Rouxai is an open-pollinated oakleaf Lactuca sativa with medium heads, intense red leaves and a vibrant green interior. Plants can be cut as baby greens or full heads through spring, summer and fall.
Sow 1/4 inch deep in spring when soil reaches at least 50ºF, 1 inch apart, then thin to 6-12 inches. Seeds sprout in 4-10 days at 60-70ºF; soil above 70ºF slows germination. Sow every 2-3 weeks for steady harvest. Give fertile soil, even moisture and mulch to hold moisture.
