Ruby Red/Rhubarb is a vigorous chard from the 1850s with a long season. Young leaves suit salads, while larger leaves suit steaming, stir-fries, lasagna, omelets, soups and stews.
Sow in full sun to part shade. It also grows well in containers, and gives year-round greens in mild climates.
