Description
Banana Melon is an 1883 heirloom with fruits about 20 inches long and 4 inches across, tapering at both ends. The sweet, aromatic flesh and early maturity make it a useful choice for northern gardens.
Sow 1/2 inch deep indoors three to four weeks before the last frost, or outdoors after frost when the soil is above 70°F. Transplant or thin to one plant every 36 inches, and harvest when the skin changes, the ends soften and the fruit slips from the vine.
