Description
Red Sun is a shallot grown from sets for gourmet cooking, with mild onion flavor and a hint of garlic. The oval bulbs wear reddish-pink skin and each one multiplies into a cluster of 6-10 bulbs. Green tops work as a green onion substitute.
Plant in early spring as soon as ground can be worked, 6-8 inches apart in moist, fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Tops falling over marks harvest, followed by 2-3 weeks drying in warm air. Live bulbs ship mid-March through end of April 2026. One order is 1 pound, about 20-25 bulbs.
