Description
Yellow Crookneck is a Native American summer squash from the 1700s with light yellow skin and buttery flavor. Pick at 4-5 inches; left to mature, fruits turn large and warted for fall decor.
Sow 1/2-1 inch deep outdoors after frost when soil is over 70F, a few seeds every 36-48 inches. Indoors, start 3-4 weeks before last frost at 70-85F, 2-3 seeds per pot in peat pots, then transplant 36-48 inches apart after frost. Sprouts in 4-10 days. Grow in fertile manured soil, water well, and harvest a few times a week.
