Description
Purple Glazer is a Purple Stripe hardneck garlic originally found in the eastern central Republic of Georgia in the mid-1980s. Each bulb produces 7–12 wedge-shaped cloves with purple-striped skin, a strong baking flavor and a storage life of 4–6 months.
Plant individual cloves 2–4 inches deep and 5–6 inches apart, with the pointed end up, 3–4 weeks before the ground freezes. Mulch with 4 inches of straw or chopped leaves, cut scapes as they emerge for larger bulbs, and harvest when the lower 4–5 leaves have dried.
